WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR REALTOR RELATIONSHIP

7/13/2009 -

COLUMBUS, Ohio, (July 13, 2009) – You’ve decided it’s time to sell your home, and for sellers in homes of all shapes and sizes, an early step is getting a listing agent to represent you. As a counselor for your biggest investment, your agent should embrace your needs and goals.

“Selling a home can be a stressful task on the whole family. That’s why it’s important to feel comfortable with your listing agent,” said Jerry White, executive vice president of Coldwell Banker King Thompson. “Your Realtor will act as both your business manager and counselor and guide you through the process step by step.”

Expect your Realtor relationship to include:

·         Convenience. Making time for showings and open houses isn’t easy when juggling busy workloads and family schedules. Your agent will work with you to find times that are most convenient for you and discuss the most effective ways to communicate with you, whether it’s e-mail, calls at work or text messages.

·         Communication. It’s your home, so you can ask to be as informed (or uninformed) about the process as you choose. Talk to your Realtor about your expectations on getting prospective buyer feedback and details on buyer inquiries.

·         Negotiation. Once you have received an offer your Realtor becomes the business manager, actively negotiating on your behalf and informing you of any buyer requests that may impact the sale. Your agent will counsel you on your options as this process unfolds and make recommendations to aid the decision-making process.

·         Trust.  Once you have selected an agent to represent you, dedicate yourself to the working relationship just as he or she has done with you. You’re both working toward the same goal - selling your home at the best price in the shortest amount of time. Having the confidence to place yourself and your home in your agent’s professional hands will enable you to have the most stress-free experience.
